CAREER COUNSELING
Are you looking for a new career direction or thinking about adding on to your education or training? I can help you to identify your goals and barriers, collaborate on solutions, and bring about results. Career change or job search can be very discouraging and isolating, and it helps to have a seasoned professional to guide you through the process and support your efforts. I provide individual career counseling and facilitate a small job search support group.
If you are searching for a new career or educational direction, I offer several assessments that will give you important information about yourself and your future, including:
*Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which looks at
your temperament and the world of work.
*A Work Values questionnaire which helps
you clarify the types of satisfaction you most
want from your career.
*Career Information Systems (an online
program) which helps you assess your skills,
find training and education specifics, and access in-depth current information about
over 500 occupations in Oregon, and find
training and education specifics.
* Other assessments to help you discover your
preferred learning style, which is important both
on the job or returning to school.
I have taught Career and Life Planning and Job Search
classes at Marylhurst University, Portland Communitty
College, and Mt. Hood Community College, as well as
in corporate settings.
Identifying your best skills and accomplishments can remind you of what you have to offer your next employer or to make a career transition. They can also help you build a powerful resume.
I offer coaching on job search techniques that work in the current economy, resume editing, help preparing for job interviews, and a small, personal job search support group.
Let me help you get back to work!
