ABOUT MY PRACTICE

Based on over 25 years of counseling in Portland, OR, including 8 years with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), I am adept at using brief, solutions-focused therapy.
For those who feel a need for longer-term therapy to learn strategies for reducing depression and anxiety, I draw from a variety of approaches, including feminist, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and the practice of mindfulness.  I am currently studying Hakomi Therapy.
I offer effective ways for managing anger and changing self-defeating behaviors, such as dealing with procrastination and negative self-talk.
I can also teach you skills which go beyond standard stress management techniques in order to become more resilient during hard times.
My work with couples is influenced by the research of John Gottman, Ph.D., of the Gottman Institute of Seattle.  This approach offers practical, research-based skills to strengthen and repair marriages and relationships.
I have been a student of T'ai Chi Chuan since 1995, and that has also influenced my private practice.
FEES:  My standard fee is $90 for individuals and $100 for couples.  I accept cash or checks at the time of service.  Some clients accepted on a sliding scale. Ask
me about how to be reimbursed by your insurance
company.
